Gurgaon is usually known to be an extension of New Delhi full of hustle bustle and corporate offices, but there are also few really nice and calm places to explore and visit. This is specially for the people who are staying in Gurgaon and on weekends or when free, want to explore such offbeat locations.
Piano Man Garden Café:
Name is so happening and so is the café, recently visited the place and it’s just too awesome! It is situated on a golf field, yes you read it right on a Golf field and even has facility of night Golf. It’s open for all and by paying a reasonable Rs.300 you can play 50 shots, atleast that was the price when I last visited it.
Well coming to food then it is simply superb, awesome music plays in the background and view of green Golf field is a pleasing site to watch. It is not very expensive but not very cheap either. A nice place to visit if you want to go for a romantic dinner or a quality outing with family and friends.
Roots Café is situated in the biggest public park of Gurgaon, Leisure Valley Park. It is located just at the entry gate which comes when going from Kingdom of Dreams towards Iffco Chowk Metro Station you take first left. Tables below trees and nice ambience is what I would call USP of this place.
Talking about food, then not all items are good but few are really nice like Poha, cold coffee (really like the containers in which they serve it!) & Y Y Bhel. It is an awesome place to visit during winters when you want to sit under the sun that too filtered by trees so that it’s not unbearable.
The place closes at 7PM and hence be on time 🙂
Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary
This is a place for adventurous people, it is a very natural and jungle like bird sanctuary with a decent restaurant where post having a thorough look and quality time at bird sanctuary you can have a tasty breakfast. The good part of this place is that its approximately 15 kms away from Gurgaon and hence early in the morning it would be a nice traffic less drive as well.
There is a park with few swings and a restaurant, just beside the sanctuary. By the way view of sunrise is amazing from there J
The whole passage to bird sanctuary is full of greenery and lush green woods in the backdrop, it’s an awesome site to watch.
This dhaba is more known as ‘Convergys Dhaba’ because it was located just beside the previous convergys office, though now office is shifted to another location but still the dhaba is referred as Convergys Dhaba.
So what’s so special about this dhaba? It is their amazing paranthas, there are approximately 40-50 types of paranthas and you get both tawa and tandoori versions of all paranthas. As such you get whole of Indian food but their paranthas are just too special and tasty and the price of parantha is a reasonable Rs. 50 and the dhaba is spacious though the ambience and furniture are very modest and dhaba kinds but view of the highway is nice and surprisingly the gentry is very nice.
It’s at a stone throw distance from Cyber Hub and I would say the USP of this place are paranthas, location and low price. Now that Maggi would be back on shelves soon would also recommend onion garlic Maggi of this dhaba, which is my personal favorite J
Before further commenting on how the dhaba is would like to inform all of you that there are several Rao Dhana on Gurgaon-Dharuhera route which is roughly 55 Kms stretch. The original Rao Dhaba is situated on the right side when going from Gurgaon to Dharuhera and is really huge and you would identify it by huge number of vehicles parked outside. Food is nice and also it is very spacious with both covered and open seating arrangement.
The good part of it is that you have a long drive and also a nice highway side different yet reasonable place to have some quality time, it is more of a countryside experience 🙂
These are some of the offbeat places in Gurgaon and nearby which I have visited and found nice, different and fun. Hope you like this list of places, will try coming up with another list of ‘five must places to visit in Gurgaon’, till then visit these places and have an awesome time 🙂
